About the Garden Workshop Presenter:

Canadaway Wildflowers is a small native wildflower nursery located in the
Canadaway Creek Valley in western New York State. Sara Baker Michalak, nursery owner, began propagating wildflowers many years ago to restore the native flora to the woodland property where she and her family built a home in the 1980s.  The nursery was established in 2002, offering native wildflowers to individuals interested in gardening that celebrates the regions natural diversity, encourages interactions between flora and fauna that, in turn, support a healthy environment, and enhance the gardeners own deeper connection with the natural world, too.

A Way To See – A Workshop to Practice Focus

Saturday, October 8, 2005

Have you gone through moments or even hours or months when the world appeared out of focus? There is much in life that we are unaware of. 2.  Walking Meditation and Poem-Making in the Little House Woods and Garden

Friday, October 14, 2005

This workshop will introduce the participants to the practice of walking meditation.  If the weather is truly inclement, we will practice sitting meditation.  We will work in ten minute slots with breaks. Restorative stretches will help the body settle before and after the meditations.  The rhythm of the movement will draw us to the rhythm of the spoken language.  We'll compose a poetic expression in an individual voice, attempting to weave the inner and outer worlds in threads of luminous color and music. The event includes exquisite culinary treats and world class tea. Reservations required.

3.  Unraveling the Masks of Everyday, A Journaling and Relaxation Workshop

Saturday, October 22, 2005

We all have invisible masks or personas that we habitually and often unconsciously wear.  In this workshop, we'll begin with an exploration in writing of our present state. Prompts will provide avenues for self-examination. Then we'll center ourselves in the here and now as we surrender all thoughts and begin to focus upon the breath moving in rhythmic waves. Once rooted in time and place, we can begin to let go of our cloaks of disguise.  Through conscious relaxation of the physical body, we'll connect with our center, let go of our masks and habits, and gradually become transparent beings.  If there is enough time, we'll reconnect with our journals as we draw/write about our unmasked selves.  The event includes exquisite culinary treats and world class tea. Reservations required.
